Re: Important news: Rolling back the years

I have met many people that I consider good friends through this list,
and treasure the fact that I got to meet many of you face to face.
I miss the people like Russ, Dennis, and Keith that I got to know and
talk about excellent music with.

It was hard to bring up closing down this list (and one other I run
off the brainiac server) after a quarter-century, but the reality is that
time and technology move forward and an email list is almost the 
equivalent of a hand-crank telephone these days.

I'm grateful for the chance to be on a couple of albums with many
of you.  (My son remains astonished that the first of his many released
recordings was on an album the the guy from That Petrol Emotion.)

We laughed for years over the possibility of a fourth Television
album, then shared the sorrow over Tom's passing and the knowledge that
there REALLY wasn't going to be any more Television.

I'll be forever thankful that Phil took me up on the offer to host the
list when he'd had to move it off the original server.  I never thought
it would become such a big part of my life.  The night in NYC at Old
Devil Moon followed by a fantastic Television performance is one of my
fondest memories.  Quick goodbyes followed by a mad dash for the last train
out of the city and getting to bed at dawn... good times.

As Phil said, the archives will always be available to reference.  Thanks
to you all for being the best damn listmates one could ever hope for.
