Actually I'm confused by this too. It's pretty clear from context that the Tom 
is Tom Keifer from Cinderella (and Rex, according to Wikipedia - sorry, Nancy - 
the band he belonged to was indeed the hair-metal group). But Nancy said her 
boyfriend - no name provided - had a rivalry with Keifer. So one would expect 
those two to be in the guitar contest mentioned - but then why put "(?!!)" after 
Richard if he was her boyfriend? But if it is our Richard, would one describe 
his playing as "wanking"? (And then there's the statement that "Punk rock was so 
much fun..." - but Cinderella weren't punk rock.)

Different Richard and Tom: "Cinderella, they were from the Philly area, where I 
went to  college, and there was a huge rivalry going on between Tom Keifer and
