How about  now?  For new 2008 releases, I have to say Earth's _The Bees 
Made  Honey in the Lion's Skull_.  Gorgeous, trance-inducing, and a  
significant step into exciting territory that makes sense now, but  
wouldn't have been at all predictable back when they made _Earth  2_.
