Re: (TV) Congratulations Yanks!

"Keeping the wolves at bay is the one thing [Bush] was good at."

Er, sorry to spew, but this is sheer lunacy... who was president when
911 happened? And who sent 4000+ of our young men and woman to their
deaths in a pointless war in Iraq?

"Watching misty-eyed hoards spewing adoration for Obama is just sad
and frankly kind of creepy, especially when it's people that don't
even live in the U.S and have no idea of what this guy is about."

Well, I live in this country, and while I may not know what Obama is
all about, I've had 8 years to learn what Bush and co is all about. I
think the "misty-eye hoards" you are witnessing is evidence that the
majority of your fellow Americans wised up, sensed it was time for a
change, and were terribly relieved and grateful that the system still
worked sufficiently to effect that change.

Interpret the world's collective sigh of relief cynically if you must.
I feel I am a fairly clear-eyed rationalist, very much not prone to
drinking the Kool-Aid, and to me it seems obvious that much of the
misery America suffered over the past 8 years and will suffer going
forward, is self-inflicted. It will take years, possibly decades to
undo the damage.

So, yeah, Obama is an unknown quantity, and the Republicans are a
well-known one. Think about that, and contemplate all the reasons why
the Republican Party might suffer in that comparison.

And then go dance in the streets.
