just read Gary Valentine's book "New York Rocker" - v v entertaining and
pretty damn good on the whole CBGB period - lots of illuminating stories
about PSmith,Verlaine,Harry and Stein and mostly not very complimentary
about any of them though he is a fan of Television's music- i recommend it
strongly

plus i wish i'd written a song as cool as Touched by your presence dear too

the Monkees might well have been "manufactured" but can you imagine any of
those useless boy/girl bands today having the same calibre of songs given to
them or making a movie as cool as Head? no i didn't think so
