(TV) Leo's Dream / List
From: "Casey, Leo J" <CaseyL@VOLPE.DOT.GOV>
I don't regret sending that description of my dream, but I do regret
>sending it without first carefully proofreading it .
The dream itself was fascinating and don't feel embarassed about the errors,
you don't notice them while reading. The way you wrote help
with the flow of the dream.
?****More interesting Topic: I'd put Richard Lloyd in my top 10 at >around
#4 or #5
(but IMHO he really needs better songs and another player to get the >most
out of himself.) ******
Agree with this comment.
Others in no particular order:
The Edge, [nothing from after 1995]
As big of a U2 fan, I am, I cannot see the originality of Edge's playing.
He's a fine player, no doubt, but one of the tops, no way.
P. Townsend, [even his solo record to Meha Baba, and great playing >on
"Warm Heart Pastries" as a guest on solo album of singer from " the >group
the Incredible String Band],
I'm just starting to get into The Who, so it's too early for me too comment.
Just by "Who's Next", I can see Pete as being listed, but based upon the
songs from "The Ultimate Who", I'm less likely to rate Pete as a top
guitarist. But I'll have to listen to more of The Who to make a final
judgement
Buddy Guy [only stuff before 1985] ,
I love Buddy's "A Man And The Blues" also love his "Blues Brother" with
Junior Wells and "Buddy And The Juniors" with Wells and Junior Mance.
Johhny Marr,
Good choice, wish he would play more and be less of a session player.
Will Sargeant[sp?], (anything from Album with "Lips Like Sugar")
Are you trying to pick a fight again! Didn't we come to blows over Echo
once before. Glad you mentioned Sergeant, but you picked the weakest album
of the original Bunnymen (assuming you're referrign to The self-titled album
or what we bunnyfans terms as "The Gtey Album").
E. Clapton, [just pre-1980s stuff recommend song "Going (Back Home" >from
>a 1970 Stephen Stills 1st solo record/cd you can find for >$1.99!],
Again, I don't see why Clapton is on any list at all. He's a craftsman and
not an artist. The Edge displays more emotion on one song than Clapton does
on an entire album. Aalthough "Blues From The Cradle" was a decent blues
package. His John Mayall Bluesbreaker stuff was also decent.
Stevie Ray Vaughn [just the album "Let's Dance" , sorry, but I find >his
blues >playing, ah how shall I put it: 'excessive'?],
I LOVE SRV's playing. Your term "excessive" hits the nail on the head, but
it what makes him so unique.
Kid Congo Powers[??] (the Gun Club),
Another good choice.
Freddie King ("I'm Going Down"),
What about Albert King?
My addition to the list would be:
Brian May, but would probably would label him as excessive too.
Henry
