RE: (TV) anytime films
> Harold & Maude
i LOVE _h&m_ -- it was my dad's favourite movie of all
time. sadly i'm kind of burned out on it since i just
wrote a big ass paper on ashby and watched that one
many, many times. as a result i have to wait a few
years before i watch it again, unless it screens
somewhere.
> Stranger than Paradise
speaking of burning out on films -- the one reason
this hasn't happened with _stp_ is that i can't stand
to watch it on telly. the images are too gorgeous to
confine to the small screen. we also have a friend
who is an albanian exchange student who loved _stp_
and really identified with cousin eva.
re: rock n roll high school:
i am very smitten with this film right now, and my
feeling that it is cinematic perfection FOR ITS GENRE
(as fluffy teen angst goes, it's head and shoulders
above _she's all that_ or _american pie_) is similar
to a giggly crush. true, it's pretty inconsequential,
but it's incredibly well-edited (uh, the airplane
scene?), the music rocks, and i find mary woronov's
tim curryesque performance very, very amusing. if i
say anything else i'm going to embarrass myself, so
i'll shush now. :)
side note: is paul bartel equal to stephen hawking in
his field? i think so.
