Re: (TV) OT: Radiohead is bigger than God
The critics are really riding the Radiohead coat-tail.
I see a certain similarity between Johnny Greenwood's playing to Tom's, and
even a certain similarity between Thom and Tom's voices. I'd say, in fact,
that they are probably one of the greatest mainstream bands of the 90's.
However, this "trying too desperately to sound like a rock band" thing has
got to go.
If you take a listen to Can (like the "Saw Delight" EP I was playing earlier
this aft), you'll realize that Radiohead, in this new incarnation, are
nowhere near the likes of the people they are trying to emulate.
But what do I know:P
N.P.
Charlie HAden - The Montreal Tapes
Scott Walker - Boy/Child
Stones - Goat's Head Soup remastered
VU - VU
Can - Saw Delight

Ok ...I'm probably three years late to this party but I'm really loving
Radiohead these days. I'm convinced that they are the biggest thing since
the Beatles in terms of innovation. More innovative than just about
everything that came before - maybe excepting Television. And their song
Knives Out really strikes me as being Television influenced. Am I just
swallowing the kritics party line hook line and sinker, or am I really
hearing something here of enormous significance ? I think that I am . What
say the list members ?
