Re: (TV) CDs on the player
The last days music at MY office:
Phil Collins - Another Day In Paradise
Britney Spears - Ooops, I did it again
Guns&Roses - Knockin On Heavens Door
Bob Dylan - Hurricane (!?!)
Sisters Of Mercy - This Corrosion
Metallica - Symphonic Concert
etc...
Yes, a strange mixture, but, take it easy, not from my PC. This is a reason
I never bring my CD:s to the office. The guy has these big PC-speakers and
he plays LOUD. (Don't want to argue to much, he helps me to put all my mp3
downloads on ZIP-discs so I can take them with me home.) But today I really
had to make an exception. I brought this:
Fun Pack - Got it yesterday, haven't listened yet but if Knockin... on the
Last Time is, as you all say, better than the Blow Up version (can it be
better???), I will definitely brainwash this guy with it. I will declare
war. Guns&Roses are pathetic.
Charles Mingus - Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus (Thanks Maurice, this is
one of my favourite jazz albums. This first track really ROCKS. And "Theme
for Lester Young" is a classic, so beautiful.)
Charles Mingus - Oh Yeah (Yes, this really sounds like the title. Oh Yeah is
enough to describe it. Small ensamble jam and the first track Hog Callin
Blues has similarities to II BS (on Mingus, Mingus...). It's almost the same
theme. Don't know if this "jam" was used to make the tune II BS. (Maurice?)
I'm also listening to the mp3s of Matthew Sweet boot Shape Shifter. Must be
a radio FM recording. Great gig feat Richard Lloyd.

(Having problems with track 3 The Ugly Truth. The webmaster says it works
but it won't for me. Can anyone else try it? Track 17 is cut off at the end
of the song, but the webguy seems to think it doesn't matter(?!?)

Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus Mingus (Yup, that's the title) - Charles Mingus
- very Beat-sounding large-ensemble jazz. I challenge anyone to
evict "II B.S." from their head once they've heard it.
The Complete Riverside Recordings of Thelonious Monk - exquisite.
Today, it's the sessions for _Himself_.
The Cover Doesn't Matter - Sure, I liked it when I first heard it,
but it's progressively grabbed me from there. I always have to play
it twice.
The Lullaby Baxter Trio - surreal lyrics over gentle Tom-Waits-ian
carnival music. (Most of the band--not a trio--was in the band for
_Night on Earth_)
Unwound -- Tim Berne's Bloodcount. Frenetic schizy avant-jazz
supergroup. The drummer, Jim Black, is astonishing.
Lifestyle - Silkworm. Great rock songcraft from this 1/3 Seattle 2/3
Chicago band. Mighty, sarcastic, emotionally moving, and just
released last year. Might well be their best yet.
