Well, perhaps Tom's mellowing in his old age, even as he's touring playing 
the angst-classic album of his younger years, MM.
At the 2015 Vancouver show, Tom seemed to be having a good time onstage, fl
ashing smiles to band members. And he was joking and laughing 
animatedly with Rip about something just before "Elevation."  My cropp
ed screenshot from my video of Tom smiling/laughing & giving a thumb's up t
o Rip is rather fuzzy, but it's proof  Tom does laugh & smile onstage
