(TV) More Than You'd Need To Know?: 'A Town Called Walker' // B-Side: 'Marquee Moon' (Live)

Non-Fades-Out Live Version:
From: a) vinyl, (USA) 33.33 r.p.m.,12-inch, IRS L33-17369 / IRS 7137, 1987,
Promotional EP: A-Side: 'A Town Called Walker' // B-Side: 'Marquee Moon'
(Live); and b) vinyl (UK) 12-inch, 45 r.p.m., Phonogram/Fontana, FTANA 312,
1987, Promotional EP, Limited Edition, colored vinyl: A-Side: 'The Funniest
Thing' / 'One Time At Sundown' (The London 1986 Version) // B-Side: 'Marquee
Moon' (1987 Live).

Both releases of this live 'Marquee Moon' were recorded on March 19, 1987 at
The Town And Country Club, London, England; Both are 10:32.6.

Note 1: The *bootleg version* of "March 19, 1987, The Town And Country Club,
London, England" has a 'Marquee Moon' of 15:03.4 (just the song itself).
Thus, Verlaine edited out over 4:30 (15:03.4 - 10:32.6 = 4:30.8) of his
original live performance in creating the IRS Promo EP version. His
original, long (4:18.5), jazzy, improvised section of just Verlaine on
guitar was what Verlaine removed. Believe he did this: a) for audio quality,
i.e., to be able to fit his March 19, 1987 live version onto one-side of the
vinyl promo EP without having to 'squish' the grooves too closely together;
and b) to try and make this live 'Marquee Moon' more commercially
appealing to the average record buyer.

Note 2: According to an October 23, 2010 e-mail to the Television-Group by
Joe Thornton, "The IRS version [and Phonogram/Fontana version] was recorded
from the mixing-desk [i.e., soundboard] and not from the audience.".

Note 3: From The Wonder's Discography: Unlike most 12-inch EPs (which are 45
r.p.m.) this is 33.33 r.p.m.; promotional copy only. Same musicians as on
Flash Light LP except [this live] 'Marquee Moon' has Jay Dee Daugherty on
drums; does not exist in any CD format.".
