RE: (TV) Re: [Television-group] sxsw / recommendation
Don't know how I managed to miss S-K through that decade.
Glad to hear it lives on.
But it was a decade. Oh yeah. Looking forward to hearing WF as soon as my % recovers.

You most definitely will get an amen from Rovner. Wild Flag was the best show I saw at SXSW, and I'm super glad Robin recommended I attend. More energy than any band I saw, and as Robin notes, the guitar interplay was awesome. I actually have never heard Sleater-Kinney, but Carrie Brownstein is a monster on the guitar (Mary is pretty darn good as well).
Other good bands for me were Mike Watt playing straight through his entire new album "Hyphenated-Man", Edwyn Collins with a cracking band backing him up (amazing for a guy who had 2 brain hemorrages (I think I spelled that wrong), lost almost all ability to speak, and is partially paralyzed), and a little band called Jukebox The Ghost who play pop songs that draw from the Beatles, Queen, some prog rock, etc., but have a magical ability to create ear worms in my head. I'm especially glad I ran out of energy and did not attend Yoko Ono (which was one of my "to see" artists), as everyone says it was awful.
And, as usual, a highlight of my trip was getting to hang out with Robin.
