"Drop buzz words like proto-punk, art house rock, or New Wave?"
Dear lord.
These people don't know the difference between words and terms!
"There is a
sub category of indie rock where the lines between rock and
dance/electronica start to blur. Yes, itbs got guitars, but it also has a
very
regimented, repetitive beat. Go back and listen to bSee No Evilb
and youbll
hear exactly that. Itbs a high tempo, 140 BPM proto-dance
rock number. Strip
away the guitar flourishes and substitute some synth,
voila, more dance than
rock. I think it has a lot to do with Ficcabs
drumming. Itbs lock-step and itbs
in the way he rides the high hat. I
swear, itbs in there. bFrictionb is a bit
slower and has more groove
but you get the same thing."
Jeebus this is completely ridiculous.
Proto-dance rock number?
Yes it's definitely more dance than rock.
Especially the bit with the guitars
and the proper musicians. And the big
guitar solo. And the real drums. And four
skinny guys from New York who
played at CBGB's in the 70's.
(I need some sleep. I'm grouchy.)
