Hah ..ditto. Lets face it Breakin is not exactly the most complex chord progession in the world although i can imagine if I had gone into a record shop when the guitar break is in full flight I might have made the same association. I've always thought of Breakin as a Velvets homage, especially the drums which are pure Mo Tucker.Always thought is was a lot closer to VU's Foggy Notion...
When I get home I usually turn the radio on to Mark (ex Fall) Riley' s show on BBC six music. Quite recently, he played Breakin and it was a real thrill to hear it come through my tinny little radio. It just sounded so fresh and vibrant especially compared to a lot of the contemporary stuff.
However given Tom's thrift shop tastes and film interest I wouldn't be surprised if he'd heard this.
