Re: (TV) In search of the great American band

"(4) Television - Marquee Moon vs. (5) Blondie - Parallel Liness
Parallel Lines is a triumph for diversity. Television was exceptional
within the parameters of spiraling-guitar art-punk, but Blondie
flourished across the map; on the strength of Debbie Harry's
performance, punk, new wave, disco, haunted houses, drag races, and
muppets cohere into something truly exuberant.
Winner: Blondie"

Irritating. If it's just going to be a popularity contest -- which
band "flourished across the map" more than its peers -- why don't they
just give it to Micheal Jackson and be done with it?
