Re: (TV) Sonic Youth's "Tom Violence"

This was the 2nd Sonic Youth tune I ever heard (the first being "Shadow of a Doubt"). It still amazes me with it's ability to come on like a ton of bricks. I saw them do it live in the parking lot of Tower Records in SF on their tour with Nirvana back in...the Triassic era.

It was a free show and they opened with it. It was stunning that four people were making that kind of sound live with day-glo amps and some duct-taped Jazzmasters. The sound coming off the mini-stage rose like a black dust cloud throwing a very long shadow over the audience. Mind you, it was a brilliant sunny morning only the Bay Area can produce.

GAWD..I love Music.

"Some people think the song is about Tom Verlaine from the New York band Television."

I'm not familiar with this track. Any thoughts?
