I also like it, but it really helps to see the non-You-tube
[or whatever its name] version in which the images and
colors are superior.
Re: the MTV stuff. It was my understanding that the promo-videos TV
appeared in were, were required as part his contracts with Warner Brs
(1981-1984), and Virgin/Fontana (1987-1990). He really didn't have any
choice in the matter.

A lot of the harshness, has to do with the sound quality of You-tube;
The sound compression used on all videos back then to make them louder;
and it's the lousy single-45 version of the song.
Suggest Edi, you check out the 5:36 version digital (ADD) version on
"The Miller's Tale"; or even better the vinyl version Five Miles of You
(Extended Mix) (5:36) // Your Finest Hour (2:28) / Dissolve/Reveal
(Instrumental) (4:43)
