Just picked up the Tortoise retro box set.

From the intro essay by Alan Licht:

'Listening to these discs, I'm reminded of Eno, Blondie's "Heart of 
Glass",  John Fahey, Frank Zappa, Kraftwerk, Tom Verlaine's "Warm and 
Cool", Paul McCartney's "Band on the Run", Neu's Hallo Gallo, Miles 
Davis "Get Up With It", Augustus Pablo, Devo, Chris & Cosey, PiL's 
"Metal Box", Weather Report, Fela Kuti and Hot Butter's "Popcorn"...

Also went to see the Robert Mappelthorpe retrospective which is 
presently showing in Edinburgh. Some great photos of Patti from the 
Horses and Wave shoots.  Much more impact seeing them 'blown up'.
