(TV) Reading Material
Anyone remember a (national but relatively small circulation published in
Boston--not a fanzine) Rock/Music magazine from mid 1970s? In it was the
first place I ever read on a guy named Tom Verlaine?
Nick Tosches and Richaed Meltzer were in its stable of great writers---they
took the music quite seriously and that was a revelation.
Other than The New Yorker I no longer subscribe to magazines--I find I can
steal what I need from my dentist. :>)
Actually other than Golf Magazine and National Geographic his office has a
pretty crummy selection---so I hang out at Borders or a big Supermarket and
graze Wire and Mojo and others until my neck hurts.
I did like Trouser Press and New York Rocker until they folded---but that a
zillion years ago. Actually I'm not middle-aged--I'm in my mid-70s.

my first issue was august '77 (kiss cover). i read
pretty much everything in every issue after that, 'til
shortly before they folded.
since i was about ten at the time, there were plenty
of times i had no idea what they were going on about.
that would be true of anything written about yes. and
i also believed everything i read!
