thanks to babelfish:
Television closed Tim Festival in the River
- the veteran New York band Television was the
prominence of the last night of the Tim Festival in
Rio De Janeiro, touching one set short of only nine
songs, in the opening of the show of Elvis Costello
and the Imposters. She opened in Swells and she closed
with its guitarreiro classic Marquee Moon, but she
gave a lesson of rock for the young groups that had
landed in the festival. The music of the Television is
not music to beat pezinho. Before touching cover of
Knockin ' on Heaven's Door, Bob Dylan, the leader of
the group, the monossilabico Tone Verlaine, dedicated
the song to a mysterious "friend of Sco Paulo, Sofia".
First great show with numbered tables and chairs, set
of the Television did not resist nor 5 minutes
unbroken: the fans had invaded the part of the front
of the TIM Stage and had disassembled the project
organized. Verlaine seems a version junkie of Mark
Knopfler. It speaks very little: "This is one old
composition of old writings". E ordered See in the
Evil. The closing, with Marquee Moon, was tremendous
and already he is one of the historical moments of the
festival in all its editions. The Television is more
in the origin of pop well made rock of that of punk
rock (comumente they are called grandfathers of punk).
One hears and it gives to make immediate connections:
David Byrne in its beginning, the mythical desert of
Wim Wenders, the Velvet and Lou Reed, track of western
spaghetti. Its sound alone seems precarious, but
extremely it is well elaborated.
Quite a surprise to see Knockin' On heaven's door
again.
