Slint recorded only two albums - 1989's Tweez and 1991's
Spiderland - before disbanding, but the band's legend and
influence grew quickly. Although its experimental alternative
rock was in league with Sonic Youth's avant-garde explorations,
and its tempo and dynamic shifts had something in common with
the Pixies, the Slint albums now sound a lot like the work of
their post-rock progeny, such as Godspeed, You Black Emperor or
Mogwai.

Brian McMahon, David Pajo and Britt Walford - who went on to
play in bands such as Tortoise, Palace, and the For Carnation -
reunited last fall to curate England's prestigious All
Tomorrow's Parties festival, and have extended their reunion for
a short U.S. tour. Angular and twisted, jumping from quiet,
minor-key guitar interplay to heavy, distorted power chords,
Slint's songs have lost none of their edgy adventurousness.
