don't think dollars are the reason Tom isn't putting out records. I
just think he's not interested in putting out anything a label would
want to release right now, and I suspect - for a man who waited to get
an offer from Elektra back in 1976, a major label, rather than take
earlier offers from Sire or Arista - that a DIY indie release isn't his
thing.
I'm sure that's absolutely right and it's a real shame because if
someone is interested in putting out Warm and Cool again then I'm sure
there'd be someone interested in putting out Warm and Cool part 2 - or
whatever else Tom may come up with. The Academy 92 cd is now into its
4th lot on Ebay and it's no longer just people on the two lists buying
it.
Personally I think he should get together with The Cheesemakers and make
a Mod/Rap/Surf Guitar hybrid album. A short tour of working men's clubs
in Northern England should put things in perspective. If he thought CGBG
was a rough dive...
