If Thin Red Line made yr. friends crazy, Fassbinder's "Ali: Fear Eats the
Soul" would drive them to great violence (staged and static long takes).

Too bad, 'cause there are so many great long takes out there: some of them
fast-moving (the first scene of Orson Welles' "Touch of Evil") others simply
captivating (almost anything from Tarkovsky's "The Stalker") . . .

After reading this, the first thing I thought of was
the movie "Thin Red Line"

Only because, when I was watching it with my peers, I
noticed the intensely long shots were driving my
friends bat-shit.

By the end of the movie, I could have convinced those
mugs they had ADD.
