sorry for beating this to death.  but what world does
this guy live in?  here's simpson's dad/manager
explaining what happened:

"Just like any artist in America, she has a backing
track that she pushes so you don't have to hear her
croak through a song on national television," Joe
Simpson told Ryan Seacrest on Los Angeles radio
station KIIS-FM. 

"just like any artist in america"?  if i wasn't
sitting in a room full of dylan, tv, patti smith, and
creekdipper recordings, i'd worry about america.

i'm especially sensitive to this because i'm forced to
listen to pop radio every morning when i drive the
kids to school (motherhood *is* a sacrifice).
