awful awful ? a prick ?

I cant say he was the friendliest guy I ever met, he wasnt politically 
correct and he had a twisted sense of humour, but he was in a band with one 
guy who's got severe OCD and another guy who's a junkie and a succesion of 
drummers that cracked up/needed to dry out - he had to be a bad bastard to 
keep the band together
