Re: (TV) Semi-OT: New York Dolls reunion

Wire ? - Johnny come latelys, didnt play their first gig till 76 ! - I missed their last gig here a couple of months ago, but apparently they were amazing - I really liked their last album, but it was late gig on a week night and I just couldnt get away with it - I should've headed the advice "It's not what you do that you regret, its what you dont do" as its not the first time I've passed up on seeing them
The core of Blondie is the same as you would've seen 30 years ago although admittedly Jimmy Destri isnt playing this tour - they always had trouble with Bass players/guitarists (like that guy who waltzed off to replace Richard Hell) and the stooges may not have the original (deceased) bass player but otherwise the whole gang is there including the sax player who played on funhouse - the stooges were incredible, I cant think of another "dead" band I'd have wanted to see more than them and they didnt disapoint
the mc5 and the dolls are as original as they can be - if their alive, their in it - its not as if its "Les McKeown's Bay City Rollers" when all the guys are alive but the only one performing is the singer, although admittedly the Dolls and the MC5 are missing (for me anyway) the most important performers although strictly speaking the MC5 are not billed as the MC5 anyway (or even the MC3)
Now I just need to see if Rocket from the tombs and suicide will play over here and I think I'll have really had my fill 70's US stuff 

I'd like to see a beatles reunion,

two more bullets will do it

(ah, its the old jokes that are the oldest)
On a more on topic note - did I imagine it or did Chris Stein audition for Television (before Richard Lloyd) ? or was it the Heartbreakers (before Walter Lure) ? or was it both ? anyone know ?

Television is still the only one with all or even most of the original members, right? I mean, granted, Hell's not playing, but I tend to define "original lineup" as the guys on the debut LP. I love Richard, but that'd be like a Beatles reunion with Pete Best, Stu Sutcliffe and no Ringo. Moot point, I suppose.
Surely Wire is the only currently active band that's nearly as old with all their personnel intact, right? Suits me just fine... the two best bands of their era(s?)s for my money...
