(TV) OT - Computer Files Storage Question...

Hello --

Do you keep your music files in cards?  Any particular kind of storage facilities?  Now I am worried about losing my files from a computer crash... also because I am thinking of getting a new computer -- what's the best way to transfer all your files from an old computer to a new one without the trials and tribulations of potentially losing them?
