often it is good, and most rock/pop albums could be
edited before reaching 70 minutes.  but, the extended
format is great for some stuff.  thinking jazz here. 
imagine the difference between having to stop by 15
minutes vs. having the freedom of an hour or more.  so
that coltrane's _ascension_, for example, had to be
broken between two sides.  much nicer now to listen to
the whole thing straight through.
