IRVING PLAZA
17 Irving Pl., at 15th St. (212-777-6800)- March 21-22: "Though perpetually mentioned as forebears of New York's late-seventies punk scene, Television always sounded remarkably sophisticated next to the caterwauling of the Ramones, the Dead Boys, and the rest of the CBGB's alumni. Centered around the duelling, angular guitars of Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd, the band members weren't afraid to master their instruments, and they employed them in entirely new ways (especially compared to the bloated corporate rock of the day). They ended up influencing legions of bands that followed."
