"Lou Reed's new album The Raven started out as a theatre piece called POEtry,
inspired by Edgar Allan Poe and staged with Robert Wilson, whose previous
collaborators include David Byrne and Tom Waits. Reed co-produced the album
with Hal Willner, who has crafted star-studded tributes to Nino Rota, Charles
Mingus, and Disney music. It doesn't sound like a bad combination, and maybe it
worked on the stage, but taken out of context the result is a two-hour "Huh?"
of an album."
