As I just said in another post, I goofed.
In the Boston Sunday Globe (Magazine Section) two
weeks ago there was a long article about how the word
"billion" has now usurped the word "million" in the
lexicon of 21st century discourse. It also mentioned
how in the past the British "billion" meant a million million.
The other place I encountered the UK use of "billion" was
in my work as a federal government employee in reading a
somewhat dated research report that used billion in this way.
