Hmmmmm....confusing. A good idea might be to send a post to the Babel list. I'm sure many of those list members were at the shows and could provide more details so that we can get this straightened out.

The show had nothing to do with films. It was mainly an instrumental
show but Tom sang old songs including "Kingdom Come" and "Man in the
Back Yard" (for Halloween). Patti Smith appeared and read a poem
accompanied by Tom, Rip, J.D., and Tony Shanahan. Then in December Tom
and Rip opened for Patti Smith's annual Bowery New Year's Eve show.
Previously Tom and Rip had opened for a series of Smith's shows, and
they also did a short tour of the east coast in 1998 (Boston, Hoboken).
Maybe those instrumental shows are the ones Steve has, but they're
mislabeled. Tom didn't work on the film project until 1999.
