damn right, the Wipers 1st album is ridiculously underrated. anybody got the
new 3cd box set that has their first 3 albums? it's pretty cheap and those old
records are hard to find. i actually like their later 80's stuff on Restless
Rec's a lot, too. Greg Sage's gtr playing is remarkably good.
another 'damn right' for the comment on Meat Puppets II, as well. it is indeed
a masterpiece.
while we're on the topic of SST stuff, which i guess we are, i always thought
the 1st fIREHOSE album was fantastic, and i've been listening to it a lot
lately. it was/is sadly overlooked only because the Minutemen were the best
fuckin' band, and it's hard to remove Watt and Hurley from that context. but
if you have no difficulty doing that, the album is worth much more than a
single shot.
