I reckon TV was an infleunce on their name, an early single's chorus, runs 
"verlaine, verlaine, verlaine" and they certainly had that classic new 
Zealand treble guitar sound, which Verlaine helped birth.

re: bunnymen

Will Sargent certainly based his sound around Verlaines but I reckon he's 
got some of own stuff going on, cf. the Indian style stuff on "Killing Moon" 
and live he certainly had a frantic charm.
