Nah, when the ac30 was designed in the late 50s, amp designers lived in fear of distortion. I don't think that Vox started adding boost channels to their amps till the mid to late 60s. Although they did have a Vox Distortion booster, a tiny little boost box that could be plugged into your guitar or amp, which has its finest hour on Lou Reed's 'Heard Her Call My Name' solo and 67-68 VU live recordings. Not really a sound I associate with Mr Verlaine though....

Doesn't that Vox amp have a built-in "boost" effect? I can't remember if you
access it with a switch or through a separate input jack.
