Re: (TV) Alex Chilton
Allow me to clarify:
I enjoy both live albums. I definitely acknowledge the superiority of the 1974
album over the fun atmosphere of the '93 disc, which was more of a surprise
than anything else. But I also find the '74 disc tough listening - bleak, but
not always melodic (like SISTER LOVERS). Plus, the recording was clearly
straight-to-tape, making for a funny mix (esp. in "September Gurls").
I agree that "Motel Blues" is a highlight - plus, its author lives two floors
below me!
I'll bring LIVE to work tomorrow and give it another listen. I appreciate
everyone's comments.
