RE: (TV) The ultimate live TV show
I found this exercise of winnowing down a live set list down to a mere 13 extremely difficult to do---even a little disturbing-----almost analogous to being forced to decide which
of one's children will live, and which must die (ok, not quite that painful). I deliberately left off songs that were never officially released just to make the task easier).
The songs below are not in listed in descending order of favorites, but in a sequence that might make dramatic sense if they were ever played in same set:
1880 Or So
There's A Reason
Kingdom Come
Last Night
Five Miles of You
The Scientist Writes A Letter Without A Word
Elevation
Ain't That Nothin
At 4 AM
Mr. Blur
This Tune
Prayer
See No Evil
Breakin' In My Heart
encores
Glory
Marquee Moon

Leo,
What I meant to say was that the list can include Tom solo as well as
Television songs. Thinking about it now, I realised it was probably a
little redundant, seeing as most Verlaine shows include Television songs
anyway.
Here's mine:
There's a reason
Souvenir from a dream
Call Mr. Lee
Soul Freedom 2000
Elevation
Words from the front
Scientist writes a letter
Foxhole
Hard on love
The fire
A town called walker
Breakin' in my heart
Marquee Moon
encore: Yonki time (melting into) Psychotic reaction

Cameron,
Regarding: "If you could (10 -13 songs), what would the songs be? "
I'm slightly confused (what else is new): do your phrases: "...choose the
song set for Tom live show.." and "(Television songs, of course)"
mean that Verlaine songs appearing on any of his solo albums are to be
excluded?
Leo
