I've never purchased a North-American guitar, but I must say that my two 
Indonesian purchases this year (A Squier Fat Telecaster and an Oscar Schmidt 
OE-30 ES335 Copy) have not let me down once. before buying the tele I spent 
an hour in the shop comparing it with the cheapest american standard tele, 
and I could barely barely tell a difference. so i'm happy with that.

the asian guitar market has come a long way over the last decade...
