RE: (TV) (OT)Carradine/Seattle Pictures Snafu
Gregg,
Glad you liked it, and I admit Alan Rudolph is an aquired taste.
When I first saw his film, "Choose Me", in 84-85[?] I had recently seen a number of Verlaine's tours (band consisting of Fred, Ripp, and J.D. and Daugherty ), and was bowled over by the stricking resemblence between Keith Carradine and Verlaine circa late 70s-early 80s----especially the scenes when Carradine is sitting drinking at the bar. (It's something about Keith's /Tom's mouths or smiles and cheek bones.[?]) Verlaine claims to be of Latvian and Lithuanian ancestry, not Russian.)

Subject: (TV) (OT)Carradine
Leo,
I watched 'Choose Me' last night and I'm glad I did. It's taken this long, I
suppose, to get past the dated 1984 fashions (which annoyed me when I saw
the film in 1988) and some of the opening dialogue seemed stiff. It's a very
well made, original film (although Keith never has to stretch from his
'Nashville' stud archetype) with a solid structure and a nice payoff
(resolution). I would even go as far as to say that Hal Hartley was
influenced by this movie. Maybe I'll rent 'Mrs. Parker' in 2024.
Sorry for the OT.
Gregg
