RE: (TV) Picking up on a thread before the server crash--Inna Gad da Da Vida

Philip,

I apologize for not getting back in touch until now. I have been incommunicado vis-a-vis e-mail because I actually ended-up going on an extended vacation trip to 3 Rivers, CA after Chicago afterall. My friends Edie & Dan had moved there this Jan. from Gloucester, MA after living all their lives in New England.

By the way--- I had never seen Tom or Television under the influence of alcohol before, which made your review especially great (to jog my memory). There's a small chance I may write a short Chicago review for the MM List, but I 'm not sure how much list interest there would be now given the 1 month has passed and the upcoming Seattle show is on most people's minds.

The recurring theme of my review would be my quasi-schizoid/"parallel universe" reaction to the concert especially my take on Richard Lloyd: did Tom tell Richard before the show that unlike the European shows Tom intended to not give all the spotlight to Richard, and Richard in response seemed decideed to act totally detached, and as a bonus tried to sabotage the song, 'Marquee Moon', by deliberately stalling when his string broke, OR was it rather a musical opening for Tom to show he doesn't need Richard to give a way more than credible version of Television's signature tune, OR was it just a great show with the tensions between the two pushing both to great performances.

I felt totally torn after the Metro Show; I wanted to talk more to you, Maurice, and Patricia, but Mr. Greenwald, the Chicago native, seemed really afflicted with logorrhea and so tended to dominate the conversation-------and I thought, "Leo this is your punishment for getting so drunk", but it did cause me pain since I knew there was a very good chance that I would never have the opportunity to talk with you and Maurice in person again. I actually do remember most of the Metro show itself (I remember several times conversations between you and thev 'bootleg' guy and women in front ), and post concert restaurant conversation pretty well. I recall at one point comparing Bowie (or Verlaine?) to Diagalev [spelling].

I greatly enjoyed meeting you ---I hope we have a chance to meet again in less inebriated circumstances .

Hoping for a NYC Show in the fall,

        Leo

This time, Burns could say, "Smithers, I want you to find the Eagles and kill
them."
