(TV) Perennials

Tom reads books on military battles, but he also reads books on
gardening. (I don't know why, he doesn't have a garden.) This might
explain why flowers pop up in his songs. Here's something from a classic
book on perennials: "The first year they sleep, the second year they
creep, the third year they leap." Do you think that inspired the line in
"Prove It"?
