RE: (TV) Floyd/Mad Cow disease
The only Pink Floyd album I ever owned was the one with just cows on its cover. I also liked some of the early stuff with Syd Barrett. But I'm sorry but the rest you can keep--I agree wholeheartedly with what Keith said about beating the WWII subject to death.
On the other hand I like some session work that Gilmore has done with Bryan Ferry (A Slave to Love abum), and didn't he play lead guitar on McCartney's Cavern gig/cd too?
I do like the sound of Waters voice though, and agree with Phillip that sometimes the sound of the words appeals to me more than the words themselves (e.g. Bowie, Waters) , but I wouldn't include Verlaine here---I think his words usually have a lot to say.
Before, I get a slew of angry messages from Floyd devotees, let me say that although I don't agree with you on the artistic virtues of Floyd/Waters I will defend to the death your right to praise them.

Pink Floyd is such a cool band ! And I don't even own "The Wall" ... I love
Saucerful of Secrets and Ummagumma . I have to hear Intersteller Overdrive
at least once a week . I love echo-y sounding guitar . I mostly like them
from their beginning in '67 to Dark Side. Pink Floyd does not remind me much
of Television - on the surface - but I bet some arguments could be made....
How about Roger Waters and Tom Verlaine - could it be possible that they
share some pretty fundamental personality traits ? Ooooh I know I'm gonna
burn in hell for that statement . But really, I consider both Pink Floyd
and Television to be psychedelic bands - especially if psychedelic is used
in the pure meaning of the word - mind expanding.
