(TV) Verlaine smokes organic 'American Spirit'/Tom's health?/Make hay

According to Ms Secret X, Tom used to smoke Lucky Strikes in the late 70's, then he switched to the more sophisticated smooth stuff from Canada (Export A). He eventually went to a hypnotist who helped him to quit for about six months. Ms Secret X once said, "Right now he's smoking a new brand called American Spirit because it is  supposedly organic. But nicotine is nicotine. He smokes at least two  packs a day."

PS: I think we should all ape the Charlie Parker fans who got hooked on heroin because Parker shot-up, but instead we'll all smoke 2 packs a day and get lung cancer or Leukemia.

I have an old interview from 1970's in which Verlaine talks about:  how he couldn't do this or that  "...especially for someone with my health...".  I'll try to find it and the context of the answer/question.  Not to get too morbid, but I've always believed that Tom would die young (mid 40's or 50's) from smoking----all the more reason why  he should put the bit between his teeth and do something musically besides the Music for Films Shows soon.
