(TV) Nash

Say what you like about nash, (and i'll probably get
flung off the list for writing this) but he did write
(or co wrote) 14 top 10 singles for the Hollies in the
UK - Stills doesn't even come close to nash when it
comes to writing hits, he's got four or five to his
name at best - was for what it's worth a no.1? can't
remember - Don't get me wrong, I'm no Nash lover. And
the Hollies were average at the best of times. but to
call him a 2nd rate hack is a touch unfair, if you
look at it in terms of commercial success - He can't
write songs like Verlaine or Stills, (comparing stills
to verlaine - I am asking to get lynched) but he could
write disposable pop that makes money. I appreciate
your view Eric, I admire guys like Tom for different
reasons, but the ability to write a catchy pop tune
(was) something nash was blessed with - not many
people would pass up the chance to exploit it fully. I
reckon someone like Tom would, but Stills? Naah. And
once nash had exploited it, at least he did something
positive and joined csn - you can't argue with their
harmonic blend. I reckon someone like Tom would, but
Stills? Naah......However i agree The buffalo's were
infinitely superior musicians to the Hollies, and I
like their tunes more. And at least they progressed -
the Hollies to my knowledge are still touring, playing
"Carrie ann" to anyone who'll listen. And i do like
quite a few Nash songs - "Right between the eyes" and
"Taken at all" are passable tunes.

Awaiting serious flak for this one,

Billy
