Re: (TV) "Blue Mask"

I like the sort of dum-dum Lou Reed songs like "I Wanna Be Black" on
"Street Hassle" and "I Love Women" on "Blue Mask." I can't really explain
how or why, but they're strangely comforting in their ridiculous way.

I actually thought I should re-check the dates before I sent that, because
I was almost positive that "Hearts" came out after "Blue Mask". I think I
was thrown off a bit by Carlucci's message, which talks about Quine and
"Blue Mask" being followed by "New Sensations" (Carlucci didn't actually
say that, but its what my brain jumped to). I pursued the Reed material in
such a haphazard way that I'm pretty fuzzy on dates and order of albums. I
just know the periods I like and dislike.

I can see that. Also, while I can find that odd enjoyment in the Reed
dum-dum tracks that are on those albums, I really can't get into the
"coping with alcohol/drugs" tracks that are on those. Especially
"Underneath the Bottle" on "Blue Mask". The music is too bar-bandy for me,
the lyrics too banal ("Oooowee! Son of a b!" for instance)

I haven't heard that, I'll have to check it out.
