(TV) Go-Betweens

To respond to Micah's query on Pontrelli's Masterpiece of the week: "Liberty
Belle & Black Diamond Express" is my all time favorite Go-betweens album
(and I love them all). Same year, different band, same island continent:
The Triffids album Sandy Born Devotional. If you like them, check out Paul
Kelly & the Coloured Girls album "Gossip" (changed to Paul Kelly & the
Messengers here in US; the Aussie moniker is in reference to a line in the
Lou Reed song "Walk On the Wild Side) . Absolutely wonderful ear candy.
Along with The New Christs, Chris Bailey's verion of the Saints, Mental As
Anything, The Hoodoo Gurus, that was one hell of a year over in Oz.

And on Phillip's request that new members provide their history
(observations, etc.): I first heard the Verlaine/Lloyd interlinking guitars
in an independent record shop when Marquee Moon blasted from the speakers.
I grabbed that, the Little Johnny Jewel single and the Ubu 12" EP Datapanik
in the Year Zero and ran out the door. Never been the same since.

I like the Go-Betweens alot...tho, I tend to listen to their last albums
more than anything else of theirs. How is "Black Diamond...?"

Micah
