Overall, solid state vs. tubes is like chocolate vs. vanilla--which 
flavor are you in the mood for?  With my Kalamazoo and Univox 
guitars, the tube amps are usually it...except when the Gorilla 
transistor works better (for bass).  Different flavors for different 
applications....
